Why do you think that is?
Answers: Student 1: (Male)
I went to college in order to further my education and athletic career.
The campus.
I wanted to get a job easily.
Football
I love the sport and I have been playing it for many years.
I had more male teachers.
I got along better with my female teachers.
They are more friendly and I think because I am a guy I think a female teacher would be more suitable.
Student 2: (Male)
I went to college because I wanted to get a job in Computer Science.
The price was cheaper than most colleges and the campus was nice.
I chose to major in Computer Science because there will always be a demand for people who can use a computer, especially in this day and age.
I participate in the Anime, DASL, and Computer Science club
I participate in these clubs because I like joining into clubs that revolve around things that I am interested in. I also think that joining Computer Science club will be good for my major.
I had more female teachers.
I got along better with my female teachers.
They were easier to talk to and were nicer to me.
Observations: After interviewing two males and trying to get insight on their perspective on college life I have come to some interesting observations about college life. After interviewing both guys I found out that people really do participate in other activities not only to get a job in the future but because they enjoy whatever they participate in. I found this interesting because I always thought that people joined clubs because they had too, not because they wanted to. Right now being a good college student isn’t good enough to get a job. Future employers want to see that you participated in the community in some way. After interviewing Student 1 I was happy to see that he participated in school activities purely because he loved it. Before interviewing the students I had already predicted that they would have better relationships with their female teachers than with their male teachers. After interviewing both of them I found this prediction to be true. I didn’t really find this surprising. My opinion is that females are better at making relationships with their students because they are naturally more nurturing than males. This is definitely something I want to look into as I dig further into my research. I also want to interview girls and see if they give similar responses.
